ANR Headset

Hi,
does anyone tried an Active Noise Reduction headset?
Does it worth the money they cost? (500-1000 US $)?
What about the kit from Headset,Inc in Amarillo? It costs
about 120$ and promise the same results of the costly ones.
Waiting for good advise.

TRSA

I’ve just discovered that I’m going to need to fly through a TRSA
(Specifically, the Kalamazoo [AZO] TRSA).  Never having gone through
one before, I tried to read up on them.  Best I can figure out is that
they are like a class-D with RADAR surrounded by an optional Class-C.

So my choices going through one VFR are to just fly on through (as long
as I stay out of the small Class-D) or to talk to them and get the same
services I would in transitioning a Class-C.  Problem is – going to or
through a Class-C I’ve always contacted approach on the published
frequency (printed in the magenta box on the sectional) for initial
contact.  No box – no clue.  Anyone know how I choose an initial
contact frequency?  Any other info you think pertinent will also be
appreciated.

Where to park in the NYC area

I’m going to be flying into the NY area next month and, unlike previous day
trips, I’ll be parking the plane for a while.  I usually go into Teterboro or
Westchester, but I expect the parking fees are higher there.  I would
appreciate a recommendation for an airport/FBO from which I can get to
Manhattan in a reasonable way but won’t cost me too much to park.  Thanks.

Parachute pilot with plane needed…..

The McDonnell-Douglas Airshow at the Fair St. Louis occurs on the weekend
prior to the 4th of July.  Our jump pilot just bailed out on us and we
need a pilot, with an airplane, capable of flying 6 jumpers plus a very
large U.S. flag.

If interested, email AirShow…@aol.com and leave phone number.

Translation (Re: Getting out of….)

Sorry to interfere with your discusssion. Im still fairly new to this
group, but since Im studying for a mechanics-exam at the moment, I think I
can answer this one:

"Translation" is derived from Latin and means motion on a straight line.

Assume a body (or a mass) consists of several discreet points, then
translation is the
state of motion where all these points move on straight, parallel lines.

Rotation, on the other hand, is defined as all points moving around a
single fixed point (either belonging to the body itself or any other point in

space) on concentric circles.

Major errors made at airports?

I would like to read about some major mistakes made by pilots at airports.  My
dad is becoming a pilot and became highly discouraged for three reasons.
First, he made a right-hand turn in a left-wise circuit.  Second, he climbed
1000 feet higher than he should have in the circuit, and lastly, he aligned
himself on the incorrect runway for landing.  I want to encourage him because
he is thinking of giving up.  He was majorly embarassed, needless to say.  Are
these mistakes common, if so, should the pilot in command feel bad about these
errors.  I would like to hear from others on bad experiences they’ve had with
flying and how they coped with those mistakes please.  -Richard
