Happy Winter Solstice Day!
Winter is finally, officially here. I was going to celebrate with an
hour or so of just tooling up and down the Owens Valley with a vague idea of
shooting a couple landings at Mammoth Airport (KMMH) provided the runway was
clear. Alas, time and a deflated nose gear strut permits not.
Yesterday morning’s low in the NW corner of California’s share of the
Great Mojave Desert was 22°F with a daytime high of 44. That was our first
excursion into the 20s. This morning’s low was a bit warmer at 25. My
condolences to the folks in Denver and eastward. Our days have been clear
and a million for at least one week.
Come February, our Skyhawk is expected to rise to the top of the hangar
waiting list. Maybe then my fingers won’t ache so much doing the preflight.
Tomorrow… Yeah, tomorrow….
But monsieur… you are ze fat boss-tard…
Such honesty – I love the French : )

Hehehehe…
Merry Christmas
Bea and I would like to extend to all our many friends throughout the world
our best wishes through the holiday season and through the new year.
All the very best from our family to you and yours.

Flying Lessons in a warm climate
I quite like the idea of treating myself to some flying lessons in a
light aircraft over the Christmas/New Year period. I could do this
here in the UK, I guess, but I also would like to spend a bit of time
somewhere warm!
I suppose I could try Florida – I gather this is quite a popular choice
(and the exchange rate is extremely favourable at the moment) but I
only have a week’s holiday to take and it’s quite a long trip to make
for such a short holiday.
Does anyone know of a flying school with English speaking instructors
in the warmer parts of Europe, e.g. Spain/Portugal?
Thanks.
Bose vs DC11 Headset comparison
Hi All!
OK.. our supplier offered to send us both, try for up to 30 days, send
back the one you don’t want!
Well… they both arrived yesterday..
Both – obviously very high quality..
Both with good cases..
Bose, more detailed manual.. DC, – good but brief..
DC – cell phone input that REALLY works nice, music input that auto
mutes.
Both comfortable, the same weight, DC has 1 extra articulation point
that allows it to fold very compactly, and the headband distributes
pressure better.
DC appears more rugged, articulated joints are (appear) stronger..
For my head, I would give the comfort edge to the DC..
Not sure about the value of the "FREE" music system offered with the
Bose. I sure don’t need it, and it is not a terribly impressive
unit….
..and there is no way to use it with the headset.. so why… ?
So now we are going to "fly" them…
Chapter 2 when I get the 1st impressions from my partner, chapter 3
after we fly them….
Cheers!
Dave
