If you want to make some interesting comparisons, read some of Martin
Caidin’s books written in the late 60′s – early 70′s that are about drug
smuggling. Then read some of today’s news accounts and see if you can
find any differences. Thirty years difference, and not a lot has changed,
only a lot of taxpayer dollars emptied into some bureaucratic empire. Do
a cost benefit analysis on the aerostat balloons; hours of operation vs
down time and the number of actual interdictions resulting from their
operation. Just another money pit for tax dollars, for the price of a few
well placed dollars to some legislator(s) in Congress who write bills to
"reward" their contributors. Eric.
