General discussion for aviators

interesting stops/sights in MO, KY, TN, IN, IL

I’ll be travelling from College Station, Texas to southeastern Ohio next
week.  I’m soliciting recommendations for atmospheric airports, nifty
places to see from the air, good places to eat, reasonable fuel, possibly
a spot to camp under the wing.  I’ll be in a 180-hp conversion Cessna 172,
VFR.  My routing will have to be flexible, but will likely be over
Arkansas, Tennessee, maybe southern Missouri and southern Illinois,
southern Indiana, and Kentucky.

After talking to other pilots, I have stopping places near each end of
the trip, but would really appreciate suggestions for western Tennessee,
Kentucky, and southern parts of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.  I hope
to take different routes up and back.

Well, we’ve got about the nicest FBO I’ve ever seen.  Besides, we’re the
home of the Fighting Illini.  Flightstar is the name of the FBO.  Good old
Champaign, IL.  (CMI).  Kind of Central Illinois though.  We’ve got food,
    fun, etc all around.
