Re: Flying in Virginia

You have three airport choices for Richmond.

Richmond International
Hanover County
Chesterfield County

I’ve been into all three, and they are all pleasant.  I think
it’s mainly a matter of picking one that’s closest to where
you want to go.  They are nicely evently spaced around the
Richmond environs.

The FBO I use at RIC (there are three I think) is the one up
next to the Virginia Air Museum (worth a stop to checkout)
up on the north end of the field.  They were very nice and
lent us a car so we could go have lunch.

Chesterfield County has a barbeque restaurant in the FBO
building that’s open fairly late (like 10PM).

Hanover (W83) is good if you want to be close to Washington, DC.  It’s
just on the north side of Richmond and has the lowest taxes.
Chesterfield is a little bit better airport (and will eventually get
an ILS) on the Southwest side of town.  Both are much easier than
Richmond to get in and out of.

I have been to Chesterfield a few times and the airport and people/facilities
are very good. I have also been to Richmond International (10pm or so,
if that makes a difference) and was treated well. I would pick the one closest
to where I was going. I have not been to Hanover.

I have been to Hanover and if your destination is closeby (even
downtown), they are a great airport.  Lots of personal attention, and
    very close to I-95.
