On Tuesday, February 20th, the San Jose City Council will review its
position on the proposed closure of Reid-Hillview Airport.  The council
has been on record since 1990 supporting the airport’s closure.  AOPA’s
bringing its annual convention to San Jose this year has provided the
necessary leverage to force the council to reconsider its position.

If we can get the city to reverse its position, we can then focus on
getting the county of Santa Clara, which owns and operates the airport,
to stop wasting money on closure studies, and perform much-needed
maintenance.  For many years, the county has neglected the airport, and
has even refused nearly $1 million in FAA funds for repaving ramps and
taxiways.

Show your support for Reid-Hillview Airport by coming to the council
meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, February 20th, at San Jose City Hall.  If
you can’t attend in person, call or write your councilmember and say
that you support the continued operation of the airport.
